A recent LDI survey revealed significant anxiety and unease surrounding the likelihood of political violence following the 2024 elections.

The survey revealed widespread concern about the potential for political violence following the presidential election, with 87% of respondents indicating they believe it is likely to occur in the near future. Among them, 35% consider the threat of political violence to be extremely likely, reflecting a significant level of concern. This highlights the growing unease about the state of political tensions and the risk of political violence following the election.

The expectations about political violence mentioned above are grounded in various factors influencing voters’ assessment on likelihood of political violence. A significant 62% of respondents cited their personal observations as the basis for their concerns, while 46% pointed to media reports. Additionally, 44% referenced historical precedents as a warning sign, and 38% highlighted the influence of current political rhetoric in shaping their views.

The findings highlight the need for greater investment in a more stable democracy and emphasize the importance of further research into the root causes of political violence in the U.S. Understanding the key factors driving such unrest is essential to developing effective strategies that can reduce tensions and foster a more peaceful political environment moving forward.
