Think You’re Too Young to Be the Change

Think you’re too young to be the change? Think again.

There’s no resume required to get off the couch and get civically engaged.

Even so, Victor Shi is an impressive one.

Victor realized his political future in eighth grade as a campaign intern for Congressman Brad Schneider. From there, Victor was elected as the youngest delegate for Joe Biden to the 2020 Democratic National Convention, at age seventeen!

His passion for increasing youth representation, he also co-hosts a podcast called iGen Politics that aims to represent and engage all generations in politics.

“With a renewal — and transformation — of civics education, we can strengthen our increasingly fragile democracy, combat the misinformation perpetuated by various actors in the political and media spheres and begin to inch closer to a government that is truly of the people, by the people, and for the people.” —Victor Shi in CNN

An inspiration, Victor encourages all young people to participate civically in their community — whether it be attending a town hall or running for office. Hear more about his ongoing work here.

No matter your age, you have something to offer your community.

The social network goes dark

The attack on democracy is a daily occurrence and comes in many forms. Some obvious (think January 6th), and some not so obvious, like Facebook.

According to whistleblower Frances Haugen, the social media giant’s products “stoke division, and weaken our democracy.”

Do you agree? If so, is it time for Congress to do something about it? We want to hear from you. Write in your opinions!

Districts in disarray

The act of redistricting plays out every ten years following the census. Read this piece to see how it’s playing out in states like Texas.

Confused about how this process works? We break it down for you so you can have a conversation about it this weekend.
